Experience gained through work placements forms a key part of our MLitt in Technical Art History training programme.
In 2020, one of our students, Clara González Fernandez, completed a placement with National Galleries Scotland to work on the painting ‘Christ Teacheth Humility’ by Robert Scott Lauder. In particular, the team were able to examine the painting in store using portable X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) borrowed from the University.
We are delighted that this work is now featured on the NGS website, accompanied by a video highlighting the restoration of the painting. Watch out for both Clara and TAHG affiliate, Caroline Rae, in the video.
