Training Opportunity – Conserving Canvas Initiative

We are seeking an early to mid-career conservator with a special interest in building upon their skills in the structural conservation of canvas paintings to join the Glasgow University conservation training project which is funded through the Getty Foundation’s Conserving Canvas Initiative. The College of Arts/Hunterian project (2018-2021) is interdisciplinary, with direct involvement from both curators and conservators.

The trainee will participate in a workshop to be held on 8-9th April 2019 in YCBA, New Haven, and another workshop in 2020 in Scotland. In addition, the trainee will complete a month-long structural conservation treatment residency in Glasgow or Edinburgh working alongside a trainer conservator and interacting with other conservators, technical art historians and curators.

Applicants need to demonstrate that they work in or mainly for public collections. Travel (within the UK), accommodation and subsistence is covered by this project. To apply, please send a short CV and a personal statement (up to 300 words) outlining your suitability to Professor Christina Young via email to Christina.Young@glasgow.ac.uk.
